Job Description
Solidus is searching for a System Administrator.

The successful candidate will be team-centered, capable of working with minimal supervision as needed and able to complete tasks to ensure the needs of the user community are met. This role requires excellent communication skills, both with team members, vendors and technical/non-technical users at different levels throughout the organization.  Must possess a sincere desire to work in a highly visible research and development organization. Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of IT functions within the group including hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server systems, developing and maintaining detailed backup and recovery strategies for multiple platforms. 

Candidate will contribute to a team responsible for execution on compliance of the on site information systems and provide systems administration support services to a dynamic group located in Lexington MA and Westford MA. Infrequent but occasional off-hour/on-call support is necessary. A certain degree of flexibility of schedule is required as some work (planned/unplanned) may be performed outside of major production hours during pre-scheduled maintenance windows.
- US Citizen and an Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance; minimally the ability to obtain a Top Secret
- Associate’s degree OR Technical School Certificate OR 1 or more Certifications and at least 3 years of applicable experience. 
- At least 3 years of Information Technology (IT) System Administrator experience and expertise in Windows, Mac and/or Linux
- Experience with IBM Enterprise Manager, Server management, SQL database management, Mac OSX
- PKI/SCCM Server Backups Windows Operating Systems, MS Exchange
- Java & Python programming a plus
- Expertise in Windows, Mac and/or Linux 
- Excellent customer service skills 
- Excellent communication (both oral and written) and organizational skills
- Experience and knowledge required to manage, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain/design solutions

Preferred Skills:
- A working knowledge Windows Server, MAC, VMware ESX, RedHat Enterprise Linux, systems on a variety of hardware platforms  
- Develop and maintain detailed backup and recovery strategies for multiple platforms
- Must be able to communicate with users in problem assessment and troubleshooting and apply appropriate technical skills or vendor methodologies to resolve issues successfully
- Interface daily with other IT and professional staff members in an integrated team environment
- Provide technical support, training and technical documentation to staff members as needed
- Possess 1-3 years of demonstrated hands-on Windows, Linux and ESX server systems
- Experience with VMware ESX, vSphere, vCenter, Horizon View is preferred but not required
- General systems administration utilities 
- Implement Windows/Linux systems hardening scripts, patching, and updates 
- RHCE, VCP-DCV, or MCSE professional certification desirable
- Strong customer service skills, written and communication skills, and a positive attitude
- Interacting with established tools, to become familiar with reporting capabilities
- Utilization of vulnerability reporting tools and assisting Group-based Information Technology (IT) teams in remediation activities
- Scope of responsibilities also includes life-cycle management of information systems as well as general IT support in a multi-platform environment
