Job Description
Solidus has an opportunity for a Software Manager.  This position is a dual Engineering Manager and Principal Software Engineer role with a concentration in space flight software and ground station development. Principal members of our development staff are technical leaders across multi-disciplined teams, possessing expert understanding of aerospace technology and payload architectures and ground support for spacecraft sub-systems and instruments.

Essential Responsibilities

The position requires experience with the full space flight software development life cycle from conceptualization and requirements analysis through final software verification & validation of space payload level systems and controls sub-systems for the aerospace and commercial communities. Principal members of our development team must have experience in estimating large software programs for current and new business opportunities as well as the proven leadership of software development projects and manage software subcontractors serving as a liaison between developers, program management, analysts, hardware engineers, customers, and suppliers. Engineering Managers are responsible for discipline specific engineering functional teams in a matrix organization including department strategic growth, personnel development, hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, goal development, and staffing to program teams. Additional responsibilities include sub-contract IPT leadership, support of customer meetings, leading program tiger teams, and participation in industry-wide events.

Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen and an existing TS/SCI (SSBI) security clearance
- BS in Computer Science or related field, MS in Engineering Management or MBA is preferred.
- 12 years of experience in the area of flight software development and hardware/software interfaces for space applications.
- 5 years experience as a functional lead, supervisor, or manager
- Proven experience as software technical project lead is required. Additional experience with software subcontract management is desired.
- Experience in payload I&T and ground test equipment development is a preferred.
- Expert knowledge of control programming utilizing such tools as MATLAB, C/C , C#, Java, Python, assembly language, object oriented programming, RTOS, PPCs, DSPs, PLCs, and FPGAs
- Hands-on experience building & integrating embedded processing systems to the hardware level
- Thorough understanding of modern hardware/software tools and how these may be used to improve the development process
- Experience in CMM/CMMI, IEEE or military standard software engineering practices
- Familiarity with NASA software quality assurance standard
- Experience supporting new business proposals or IR&D technology development efforts
- Strong problem solving, mechanical, mathematical and geo-spatial comprehension skills
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills for interfacing with customers, senior management, program management and suppliers as well as mentoring of junior engineers
