Job Description
Solidus seeks a software engineer to aid in the integration of third-party data feeds into Homeland Security data analytics software prototypes.

Responsibilities:
- Aid in the design, implementation, and testing of prototype software systems that perform analytics on third-party data feeds for Homeland Security and Law Enforcement applications
- Write code to interface with external sensors, live data feeds, and archived data management systems, including managing the connection to such systems and requesting or listening for data to ingest
- Contribute to other aspects of the software system such as back-end data management, front-end user interface functionality, and analytics implementations
- Many near-term prototyping activities will be focused on video data processing (integrating with video management systems and/or streaming video) but other activities will involve a broader set of data modalities
- The developer should be comfortable working with third-party APIs and SDKs and common data exchange formats.

The successful candidate will join a group that designs novel algorithms and processing systems to help users extract key insights from data within the Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Military Logistics, Bio-Informatics, and Disaster Response problem spaces. 

Requirements:
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- MS plus 3 years minimum experience, or BS plus 5 years minimum experience
- Experience with object-oriented software design and development
- Proficiency in C++
- Experience with C#, .Net, Python, or Java
- Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodology
- Experience working with one or more from the following: web applications, web services technologies, client-server and desktop applications, computer vision applications, machine learning applications, developing large software systems
- Experience in software testing (e.g., unit test, functional test, integration test)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative and dynamic work environment
- Strong knowledge of data structures, mathematics, algorithms, or data analytics
- Experience with software-based video applications in C++/C# (e.g., Video Management Systems, video encoding/decoding)
- Experience with open source video processing tools and libraries (e.g., FFmpeg)
- Experience with real time/live video encoding/decoding
- Experience integrating other hardware or sensor systems
- User interface design experience
- GPU programming experience (e.g., CUDA)
- Parallel programing experience (Concurrency/Multithreading, OpenMP)
- Databases experience
- API design experience
- Software architecture and design experience
