Overall Responsibility

Under the direction of the Materials Manager coordinates the everyday activities involved in the procuring of goods and services to be used in production. Manages purchasing orders, pricing, requisitions, and other purchasing duties. Monitors the inventory of raw materials, tools, parts, supplies, and predicts future production needs.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Creates purchasing orders from requisitions.
  • Obtains price quotes from multiple suppliers.
  • Communicates with multiple vendors to acquire product information, price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Maintains records of purchases, cost, delivery dates, quantity, and quality of materials.
  • Maintaining a very detailed filing system of all purchased materials and updating records when necessary.
  • Prepares vendor supplier performance reports for the Materials Manager to review.
  • Ensures the efficiency and quality of the purchasing process by discussing unacceptable goods and services with the quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of the problem and take corrective action.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, HIPAA, ISO 13485, and other compliance/regulatory guidelines as applicable, as well as all Sizewise policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor for the contribution of overall team accomplishments and results.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Ability to work with computers and software such as Microsoft Excel and data processing abilities.
  • Proficient documentation skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with internal employees as well as outside suppliers.
  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Familiar with general office equipment, including phones, fax machines, copiers, scanners, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Associates degree preferred
