ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST (ACCOUNTING AND PAYROLL)

Brian’s House Inc, a non-profit organization located in Exton, PA and dedicated to providing services and support for individuals with physical, intellectual and mental disabilities. We are currently looking for a Accounting Specialist .


TITLE:                                                      ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

RESPONSIBLE TO:                   Chief Financial Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:    Responsible for overseeing various fiscal, general accounting, and control functions and gathering and reporting financial and statistical information for internal and external purposes. Payroll and Accounting functions.

 MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversee the operation of the accounting department, including payroll, and accounts payable.

  • Maintain schedules of general ledger accounts for auditing purposes, including the fixed asset schedules.

  • Prepare journal entries as needed and assist in month-end closings and preparation of financial statements.

  • Ensure the year-end audits by the public accounting firm and other third party auditors are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Prepare and assemble various financial and statistical reports required by internal and external parties.

  • Process Accounts Payable checks in conjunction with Woods AP department. 

  • Process bi-weekly payroll checks and direct deposit for distribution.

  • Prepare Federal, State and local taxes for payment.

  • Run bi-weekly payroll reports and prepare bi-weekly budget and labor distribution reports for Executive Director. 

  • Monitor new employee input so that Federal, State and Local taxes are correctly withheld.

  • Prepare the monthly payroll journal entries, including accrual, FICA, and individual payrolls.

  • Coordinate with HR and Woods Payroll department and as needed regarding any payroll related inquiries.

  • Input and maintain a departmental payroll schedule for the Fiscal Manager.  

  • Manage vehicle registration and insurance cards.

  • Other Duties as assigned.



 


Job Qualifications:

 

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

     

    • Must demonstrate the ability to supervise and coordinate accounting activities. 

    • A broad knowledge of healthcare operating activities is expected.  

    • Experience with payroll taxes and withholdings. 
    • Must be able to work professionally with confidential information. 
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook & Excel).
    • Experience working with the ACCPAC, Total Records, Great Plains and Paycom preferred.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:       Bachelor’s degree with major in accounting required 

     

    Experience:     Five (5) years of healthcare or related not-for-profit accounting experience
